These categories are divided into race cars, supercars, hypercars, and SUVs. The player is able to use four different types of cars, which are divided into 9 different categories. Single-player mode consists of offline (against AI opponents) and online (against other players) races to earn points. By completing races, players can earn stars, which are necessary to unlock better cars. Career mode consists of seasons, during which the player participates in races to earn points. The game features a career mode, single-player mode, multiplayer mode, and online mode. Gameplay of Asphalt 9: Legends is very similar to that of Asphalt 8: Airborne, but with some changes.
